RC’86/CLAW ’94
Marc Goldstone is one of the nation’s most respected healthcare attorneys. An in-demand speaker and author, Mr. Goldstone currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Wellpath, the nation’s leading provider of compassionate medical, dental and behavioral healthcare to individuals in custody. Mr. Goldstone is an experienced organizational leader who currently serves on the Boards of the Nashville Wine Auction and the Scott Hamilton Cares Foundation, organizations that raise money to fight cancer. Mr. Goldstone’s prior board service includes the American Health Law Association (Executive Committee member), the Shalom Healthcare Foundation, and Street Theatre Company in Nashville. Mr. Goldstone is an honors graduate of Rutgers Law School; prior to his legal career, he served many years providing patient care as a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic in New Jersey. Due to the breadth of his experience, he was appointed to serve two terms on the United States Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council by President Obama’s Secretary of Labor, the Honorable Raymond LaHood. Mr. Goldstone is the proud father of two musically talented daughters, and is an enthusiastic supporter of Rutgers University, where he has served on the Rutgers Alumni Association’s Board of Directors for the past two years. In 2020, Mr. Goldstone was inducted as a Fellow of the American Health Law Association, joining a small and elite group of attorneys accorded this singular honor.
Paul Penna
RC ’97
Paul Penna has had varied professional experiences including owning his own consulting business focused on communication and association management, serving as the Director of Government Affairs for the New Jersey State League of Municipalities, as the Chief of Staff at the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, Executive DIrector of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, and staff positions with State- and Federal-level elected officials. He serves on the Board of Lawrenceville Main Street, previously served on the Lawrence Township Planning Board, and the Mercer County Planning Board. He lives in Lawrence Township with his wife, Cathleen Lewis and their two daughters.
Lauren Valencia
RC ’96
Lauren Valencia is a proud alumna of Rutgers College, 1996. Her degree is in Psychology and Communications, and she completed a year of graduate study at the Rutgers School of Psychology. She was a Division I full scholarship athlete and letterwinner for the Rutgers University Women’s basketball team. She was also the proud recipient of the Rutgers Student-Athlete Award ’96, and the Rutgers Cager Club Alumni Award ’97.
Lauren’s corporate career has primarily been in telecom/tech, with over 27 years of experience. She led several teams at Verizon in her 22 years of service in Network Product Development, Strategy Portfolio Management, Strategic Partnerships, and Operations. In her last leadership position at Verizon, she worked in the Organization Effectiveness Center of Excellence. Through this work she found her passion for coaching senior executives, partnering in transformational efforts and focusing on team effectiveness. In this role she led the culture transformation and integration work in Verizon’s M & A space and established the first centralized AI and Data Analytics organization at Verizon.
Today, Lauren continues her passion for education in her role as Success Coach in senior executive education programs at The Wharton University of Pennsylvania, Columbia Business School, and MIT xPRO.
Lauren serves the leadership community as Founder and CEO of Mariposa Executive Coaching and Development, and an ICF Professional Certified Coach.
Lauren, her husband (also a Rutgers grad) and their teenage daughter continue to be passionate supporters of Rutgers University athletics.
Houshang Parsa
RC ’80
Houshang Parsa RC ’80, has been involved with the Rutgers Alumni Association for over 35 years, first as a card-carrying member, then as class alumni council representative to RAA, followed by serving on RAA committees and subsequently being elected to its Board of Directors. Houshang has co-chaired several committees, including undergraduate, alumni family day, and grants & gifts committees, plus co-chairing of connection sub-committee, one of the four pillars of RAA’s strategic priorities. In addition, he has coordinated the RAA’s annual meetings and homecoming events, and served as corporate secretary, and currently as vice president for governance.
Houshang has served on the Board of Directors of the Rutgers University Alumni Association, where he chaired the committee on inclusion and diversity. He has been on the University Senate since 2017, serving on the University Structure and Governance Committee, and co-chairing a number of senate ad hoc committees. He is president of the class of 1980, and has also served as university ambassador and marshal. Houshang continues to help in strengthening the association through increased alumni participation, which remains a key element to advancing the collective interest of both the RAA and the alma mater. Houshang is a recipient of Rutgers Loyal Son and RAA Trustees Awards.
Jeffrey M. Armus
LC ’77, RBS ’82
Jeff is serving his fourth term as Treasurer of RAA. He is also President of the Livingston Alumni Association. Jeff became involved with the RAA through the Community Service Committee, eventually serving as co-chair of the committee. Jeff was honored to be inducted as a Loyal Son of Rutgers (Class of 2018). He also previously served as Corporate Secretary of the RAA. Jeff is retired from a Finance and Accounting career with a major global industrial gasses company. He continues to participate in many volunteer and community oriented activities.

Nicole Setzer, Eng ’08, a Rutgers Alumni Association (RAA) Class of 1931 award winner and Loyal Daughter of Rutgers, started her alumni involvement shortly after graduation as a member of the Rutgers University Bands Alumni Association (RUBAA). In 2009, she was elected to RUBAA’s Executive Board as Membership Chair, then moved to Member at Large, followed by multiple terms as President. Nicole currently serves as Membership Chair of RUBAA. 2015 marked the 100th anniversary of the Rutgers Marching Band and Nicole was an integral member of the steering committee that produced both a successful fundraising campaign and a memorable celebration during Homecoming. As president of RUBAA, Nicole became a member of the RAA Board of Directors where her service to Rutgers and the RAA became supercharged with various leadership positions with the RAA including chairing the Homecoming/Reunion and Alumni Family Day Committees and serving as vice-president of the RAA. Nicole has been an active member of the Undergraduate Committee and Nominations Committee. The tricky tray at the RAA Holiday Party would not be the same without her active participation. Outside the RAA, Nicole has served as a Rutgers University Alumni Association Reunion volunteer and an Alumni Panel Speaker for the Rutgers Institute of Industrial Engineers. She has also participated in the Knight of Networking for Student Athletes as an alumni letter winner industry professional. She has over a decade of experience in the manufacturing industry.
