2007 Homecoming
If you’ve been to a Rutgers Homecoming before, you know about “the tent” – that huge, colorful canopy that can barely contain the merriment that builds underneath. This year’s event took it to new heights. Guests were asked to enter through a "real" boardwalk, then supplied with sunglasses, and treated to sand art for the kids, popcorn, cookies, lemonade, and other goodies Not to be missed, though, was the larger-than-life cutout of a Scarlet “wave” crashing over the tent with, get this, running back Ray Rice’s number 27 jersey and floral shorts riding the crest.
By early afternoon, another tidal wave was taking shape – this one of the human variety -- carrying fans to nearby Rutgers Stadium where they watched the Scarlet Knights trounce the Norfolk Spartans, 59-0. Factor in a fantastic half-time show, lots of Rutgers cheers, and the chance to recapture some of the magic of your college years….and you have a perfect fall afternoon on the banks!
